Booknizer is short for “book organizer”, and now that you know that, it will come as no surprise that this application is meant to help you manage your collection of books. What may come as a surprise is how user friendly, how good looking and useful this application can be. It’s just a properly good tool for anyone who wants an efficient means of organizing and managing books (classic, electronic, and audio books).

To get started with Booknizer you will first have to download a 9.8MB executable onto your PC. Run the aforementioned executable and you will be presented with a setup wizard; this setup wizard will help you install Booknizer on your Windows-powered machine. You can install the application in one of three supported languages: English, German, and French. No matter which language you pick, you will be done in little time – and when you’ll be done, you default browser will launch and you will be taken to a “Thank you for installing Booknizer” webpage.

In the upper part of Booknizer’s interface you will find a traditional File Menu, navigation buttons, buttons to add a book or an author, and a few other handy buttons. In the pane to the left you can see a list of your collections, a list of the books in your collection, a list of the authors for the books in your collection, and a handy search function. What you see in the pane to the right depends on what you select – if you select a book, you will see info on it, if you select an author, you will see info on that author. By default the pane to the right displays an overview of your collection.

To help you get started, Booknizer comes with a built-in database of books and authors. By providing this database, the developer gives you a clear view of how a collection of books managed with Booknizer looks like. You can easily start a new database and you can easily add your paper, electronic, and audio books. Speaking about adding books, you can manually add information on a book or you can let Booknizer automatically grab it from the web. Or you could use both – let Booknizer grab info on a book from the web, then manually edit or add more info.

Friends are going to want to borrow your books – and that’s good. But they may forget to give them back – and that’s definitely not good. To help you with this, the Booknizer application comes with a handy loan manager. You will always know who has your books and when the book was borrowed.

Booknizer is only free to try – the trial version is limited to 50 books per collection, cannot download more than 3 pictures, and it doesn’t let you add more than 2 editions of a book. The trial also presents you with a registration reminder every time you launch the application.

No false advertising here! Booknizer really is your “one-click book organizer.”

Pros

Booknizer supports English, French, and German. The application comes with a sample database or collection; this helps you better understand what can be done with Booknizer. A lot of info on a book can be added; Booknizer can download book info from the web. There’s a handy loan manager. Use Booknizer to organize and manage your paper, electronic, and audio books.

Cons

Opens a “Thank you for installing” webpage; the trial edition is limited.
